Law on seat belt usage

In many places in Canada such as Ontario, drivers and passengers are required to use seat belts. Those who commit seat belt infractions can be fined for up to $500 and are given two demerit points. The demerit points remain on the driving record for two long years. On top of these, those who are guilty of seat belt infractions can also be charged with an additional $20 for victim surcharge.
